DESCRIPTION To ensure high availablity and continued quality service, APNIC has specified a fixed maintenance window, in which to perform scheduled maintenance. Maintenance includes, but is not limited to such activities as Add/remove/replace hardware on servers, bring new servers online, patch servers/workstations, and install new/updated software on servers/workstations. MAINTENANCE WINDOW * Saturday 8:00 to 12:00 UTC +1000 * Saturday 12:00 to 16:00 UTC +1000 Please note, that these times are when APNIC will try to schedule any service outages. External services are potentially unavailable during this time. NOTIFICATION If a maintenance window is going to be used, a notice will be sent to the apnic-announce mailing list, at least one week prior, detailing what external services will be affected while maintenance is performed and approximately for how long. We advise members to subscribe to the apnic-announce mailing list for this reason. The http://www.apnic.net/maintenance/ web page will also be updated to reflect any upcoming maintenance, so please refer to this page for the latest information. After a maintenance window has been used, an additional notice will be sent to apnic-announce, confirming what maintenance has occurred and detailing any further outages that may be required. CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING If a maintenance window has been scheduled for use, but will not be used due to unforseen circumstances, then a notice will be sent to the apnic-announce mailing list, and the http://www.apnic.net/maintenance/ web page will be updated. TESTING APNIC will endeavour, when possible, to ensure that all software and hardware modifications made during a maintenance window have been fully tested on our development network prior to roll-out onto our production network. FILES http://www.apnic.net/maintenance/ will be updated with information of any upcoming maintenance periods, and the timetable for standing maintenance windows SEE ALSO Information about upcoming maintenance will be e-mailed to apnic-announce several days in advance when possible. NOTES For periods of extended outage APNIC will attempt to configure a temporary server to ensure continued service during this time. RESTRICTIONS Some maintenance is time critical, in particular security related upgrades. In those instances when system security may be comprised by not acting immediately APNIC will perform maintenance without prior notification. In the event of unscheduled maintenance, a notice will be sent to the apnic-announce mailing list after completion detailing what tasks have been performed.
