Hi,

As you may already know, January is shaping up to be a somewhat
congested month for conferences that might be of some interest to ISPs
in the AP region. This note is to fill you in on some of the details.

The schedule of the meetings, all in Singapore, is as follows:

Jan 17 - 19: Asia Pacific Rim Internet Conference on Operational
             Technologies (APRICOT)
----------------------------------------------------------------

This conference is intended to help transfer Internet operational
knowledge to service providers in the AP region. Respected operators
and speakers from around the world have agreed to participate and
share their knowledge. The agenda for APRICOT is:

Jan 17: Tutorials
Jan 18: Conference
Jan 19: Conference and Asia Pacific Operations Forum Kickoff Meeting

For more information and to register (and I *strongly* encourage early
registration as space is limited), see http://www.apricot.net/apricot.

Jan 20: 3rd APNIC Meeting
------------------------------------------------------------------

Current agenda items include:

APNIC Funding Plan Modifications
APNIC Organizations Proposal
APNIC Incorporation Status
APNIC Financial Status
National NIC status reports

Other agenda items are solicited. Needless to say, I beleive it
is very important that ISPs attend this meeting as the APNIC funding
plan will be discussed and modified.

It is possible that APNIC and the APNG Commercial Working Group
will hold a joint session, as was done at the 2nd APNIC meeting
in Honolulu. I'll update you as things develop.

Note that the APNIC meeting will have a US $50 attendance fee (paid
in cash at the door). The APNIC meeting will be held in the same
venue as the APRICOT meeting. I will be sending out a registration
form for the 3rd APNIC meeting sometime next week.

Jan 21: Internet Legal Task Force
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The newly established Internet Legal Task Force will be meeting at the
National University of Singapore. For more details, contact Laina
Greene <laina@singnet.com.sg>

Jan 22 - 24: Asia Pacific Networking Group Meetings
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Jan 22: APNG Seminar on the Internet Today
Jan 23: APNG General Meeting
Jan 24: APNG Working Group Meetings

Form more information, see http://irdu.nus.sg/apng

Hope to see everyone in Singapore in January...

Regards,
-drc

20th, 1996. This meeting is open to anyone interested in having a say
in APNIC operations. As with the previous meeting, there will be a
attendance fee to cover the costs of the meeting. For the 3rd APNIC
meeting, the attendance fee will be Singapore $50.00 payable in cash
at the door. However, if you will be attending the APRICOT meeting
scheduled for Jan 17 - 19 (at the same location as the APNIC meeting),

>BUT WHICH DAY?

Hmm. OK, perhaps I need more sleep.

Due to the preceived necessity to avoid conflict with the APNG meeting held
on Saturday, the APNIC Meetings will be held on Sunday, June 30, 1996. The
APNIC meeting this time has two parts, a member's meeting from 8:30 to 12:00
which is open to all organizations which have paid the APNIC fees and the
APNIC Open meeting from 1:30 to 5:30 open to anyone interested in NIC
activities in the Asia and Pacific Rim.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me (or hunt me down).

Cheers,
-drc
