This will be a long process as there is a lot of very outdated data. During this process, we have located approximately 25,000 "orphaned" POC records, that is, points of contact that have no relation to any network, host or ASN record in the ARIN database. Most of the data on these orphaned POCs is outdated and the current procedure only allows for new ARIN handles to be created if the individual is the POC for a network, host or ASN record. We plan to delete these 25,000 orphaned ARIN handles but first wanted to give you the opportunity to comment and give you a heads up. We plan to delete them in about two week's time. Past archivesof your own arin mailing list will prove this out quite clearly Kim. I am very disappointed in you that you would make such a blatant false statement to this effect. And many of us on this list have pointed this out time and time again. > Not only that, but you also seem to be under the impression that *if* > the RIRs have seats on the board, the RIR staff will be the ones filling > those seats, another incorrect assumption. Possibly. However is history is any guide, Milton is correct. As with the formationof ARIN from the IANA it would appear that Milton's statement rings surpassingly true in that Jon Postel sits on the ARIN board. > It will be representatives > from the specific region, voted by the members that will be on the board, > not members of the RIR staff. And this very statement almost assures that in the case of ARIN, ARIN staff memberswill be in those very NewCo board seats in that those ISP's and others that are not ARIN's members have no say in what or whom has seats or votes for ARIN, which is by definition not a Stakeholder organization. > > > Kim Hubbard > ARIN > > > > > -- > > Jim Dixon Managing Director > > VBCnet GB Ltd http://www.vbc.net tel +44 117 929 1316 > > --------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Member of Council Telecommunications Director > > Internet Services Providers Association EuroISPA EEIG > > http://www.ispa.org.uk http://www.euroispa.org > > tel +44 171 976 0679 tel +32 2 503 22 65 > > > > > > __________________________________________________ > > To view the archive of this list, go to: > > http://lists.interactivehq.org/scripts/lyris.pl?enter=ifwp > > > > To receive the digest version instead, send a > > blank email to ifwp-digest@lists.interactivehq.org > > > > To SUBSCRIBE forward this message to: > > subscribe-IFWP@lists.interactivehq.org > > > > To UNSUBSCRIBE, forward this message to: > > unsubscribe-ifwp@lists.interactivehq.org > > > > Problems/suggestions regarding this list? The recommendations resulting from this WIPO Internet Domain Name Process will be made available to the non-profit organization that will be formed to manage the technical and policy aspects of the Internet domain name system. All information regarding this process is available at our web site at the address http://wipo2.wipo.int. The WIPO Process is undertaken through a combination of Internet-based discussions and in-person consultations. The latter are organized to ensure that interested parties have the opportunity to present their views on the issues to be addressed by the Process. Furthermore, the locations of these meetings are determined with a view to ensuring full geographical representation. WIPO is now making a significant effort to spread the news about these meetings. You are of course invited to attend. Furthermore, any assistance that you can provide to circulate the attached would be greatly appreciated. The documents also indicate that for those persons who would wish to present Statements at the meetings, they can pre-register to do so through our web site: http://wipo2.wipo.int. We will use this pre-registration information to establish an agenda, leaving any time at the end for those who attend but have not pre-registered to speak. We have also the pleasure to inform you that the full constituted panel of experts that has been appointed to assist WIPO in the Internet Domain Name Process will be available shortly on our web site. On the basis of the comments received on WIPO RFC-1, and based also on the input from our experts, we have prepared WIPO RFC-2, requesting comments on the substance of the issues addressed by the WIPO Process.
